Last week, members of the Lithuanian Regional Waste Management Centres Association (LRWMA), including specialists from Kaunas RWMC, participated in public procurement training in Tauragė. The lecturers – Giedrius Ruseckas, an expert in public procurement and public-private partnership, and Rasa Klimavičienė, an advisor to the Procurement Management Unit of the Public Procurement Service, presented how to properly plan procurement, discussed the draft amendments to the Law, the principles of procurement management, the peculiarities of the execution of contracts, and the most frequent problems. Such meetings not only strengthen competences in the field of public procurement, but also promote closer cooperation between regional centres.
In the second half of the week, the focus shifted to the application of artificial intelligence. During the training Povilas Žarnauskas and Sandra Jankauskaitė gave a detailed introduction to the concept of AI, its development, benefits and risks. The focus was on practice – participants not only heard about, but also tried out various tools:
- “ChatGPT – for text generation, summarising, communication;
- “Microsoft Copilot – for help with documents, calculations, schedules and draft contracts;
- “Gamma – for easy and fast presentation creation;
- “MidJourney and other image creation tools for visual solutions and creative ideas.
The training demonstrated real-life situations ranging from scheduling and reporting, to managing client enquiries, creating visual content and preparing meeting minutes. Participants were able to see first-hand how IoT tools can help save time, streamline processes and bring more creativity to their work routine.
Both topics – public procurement and artificial intelligence – showed that continuous learning is essential in every field. Increasing knowledge helps to strengthen competences and adapt to changing challenges.
