5 February 2026 Heads of Kaunas RATC units took part in the civil protection training conducted by specialists of the Fire and Rescue Department under the Ministry of the Interior, Kaunas Fire and Rescue Board. During the training, the managers deepened their knowledge on crisis management, warning and information organisation, and the responsibility of economic entities during emergencies. They discussed how the national crisis management system works, what decisions are taken at different levels and what role is played by a particular facility and its manager.
Particular attention has been paid to timely decision-making and information transfer – from spotting the first signs to alerting staff, informing the General Emergency Centre and cooperating with the authorities. This is particularly relevant in waste management facilities, where potential situations include fire risks, pollution incidents or service disruption.
This training is complementary to the fire training held at Kaunas MBA and is part of a coherent preparation – not only how to react to a specific situation, but also how to manage it systematically. Practical on-site training and theoretical knowledge of crisis management form a single unit, allowing for faster response, clear allocation of responsibilities and ensuring the safety of employees and the environment.
