Christmas is coming – the time when our homes are filled with cosiness and our houses and yards are decorated with Christmas trees! But is it possible to create a festive mood without extra waste and artificial decorations? We say YES – and invite you to take part in the Facebook contest “My Sustainable Christmas Tree”!
Christmas trees and festive decorations don’t have to be mass-produced or plastic. They can be natural, recycled and creatively customised, keeping the spirit of the festive season without excess waste.
A sustainable Christmas tree – what is it? – A creative and environmentally friendly festive decoration that decorates your home without creating extra waste. It can be made from recycled, natural or reused materials, giving new life to existing items. A sustainable Christmas tree symbolises a responsible attitude towards natural resources, encourages creativity and reduces the environmental impact of consumption.
We are waiting for you:
Creativity: show that the festive spirit comes from your hands, not from the shops!
Sustainability: avoid new purchases and choose what you can recycle, refurbish or repurpose.
How to participate?
● Create a Christmas tree and/or Christmas tree decorations from recycled materials, natural materials or existing items.
● Take a photo of your artwork.
● Share your photo in the comments. To make sure the creative decisions are your own, we invite you to take a photo of your festive creation with a piece of paper that says: “My sustainable Christmas tree”.
There are festive prizes waiting for you, but it’s more important to show your creativity and contribute to sustainability! Take part and spread the message about the importance of waste management and inspire others to create with what often ends up in the recycling bin.
Get creative and show how Christmas can be festive and environmentally friendly!
